The Odyssey Project

Date

10 - 18 June

Time

09:00-17:00

Artists

Terry Kobus

Ever since Homer’s epic poem The Odyssey told the story of Odysseus’ ten-year voyage home after the Trojan War, Odyssey has meant any epic journey.
This exhibition is inspired by Odysseus’s eventful journey during which he battles mythical creatures and faces the wrath of the gods as he struggles to get home to his family and his throne in Ithaca. A series of mixed media pieces on antique paper documents explore this theme, looking as if they are painted on relics, like a precious fresco removed from a wall for preservation.
Three somewhat distinct forces shape the lives of men and women in The Odyssey: fate, the interventions of the gods, and the actions of the men and women themselves.
