About the Development Fund

promoting the arts across cultures

FynArts community programmes serve an increasing number of practising and aspiring creatives living in Zwelihle, Mount Pleasant and Hawston through the FynArts Development Fund, the sole beneficiary of the FynArts Festival.

The main objective of the Fund is to promote the arts through education and skills development and to provide opportunities for young practising and aspiring creative across a diverse range of disciplines to showcase their art.

Making an impact through collaboration: we continue to enjoy our long term collaborations with the First Fridays Art Walk, Enlighten Education Trust, The Creative Space, the Spiro Art Foundation, Camphill School and Farm, Hermanus, the Volmoed Trust and The Story Team.

Since 2022 we have strengthened our collaboration with teachers from most of the local primary schools through a number of shared projects, including creative writing. We especially appreciate their support in fostering the love of singing together and the joy that the Choir Celebration concert brings to their packed audiences.  We plan to extend ‘making music’ projects in 2025.

More recently we have joined forces with the CBD Revitalisation Cluster,  Overberg Education Hub, the Overberg Star Search Team as well as Mardee’s design project in Zwelihle.

Events and workshops offered to individuals and small groups of creatives throughout the year, continue to grow and develop.  Monthly networking and support coffee mornings for visual artists are being planned for 2025.

Here are some of the projects FynArts has had the privilege of being involved in. It is far easier to show you how we have engaged with the community through our projects than trying to explain - a picture is worth a thousand words !
