Winifred Bowman, a Cape Wine Master, is an acknowledged brandy expert and taster for the annual Platter’s South African Wine Guide. She writes about wine and brandy for various publications, acts as judge in many competitions, and is often called upon to present brandy tastings.
She is a qualified physiotherapist, biomedical scientist with a PhD in education (didactics). Her interest in wine dates from her student days at Stellenbosch and later through frequent travels to international winegrowing areas.
