A Stellenbosch University graduate with an Honours degree in Philosophy, he has also completed a wine evaluation course and a small-scale winemaking programme run by that institution’s Department of Viticulture & Oenology.
He has judged at the Trophy Wine Show since 2007 and sits on numerous other competition panels.
