Adela Friedman

Ceramicist

Adela Friedmann was born in the UK in the 60’s and arrived in Cape Town in the 70’s. She qualified as an Interior Designer in the 80’s and practiced as a designer in commercial fields until the mid 90’s.
In the 00’s she began her self-taught journey into the creative field of ceramics and more recently painting, taking inspiration for both, from the remarkably creative and ever-changing world.

Adela works with stoneware clay and underglazes, creating whimsical characters that emerge from her subconscious.
These quirky figurines reveal underlying serious truth about aspects of this world while simultaneously delighting the audience in an unexpected kind of way.
