Anton Verhoogt

Anton is the chef and owner of Fisherman’s Cottage in Hermanus, a venture he embarked on ten years ago. After he received his diploma at the Institute of Culinary Arts, he had the opportunity to travel the world and develop his own cooking style and flavour profile.

He then lived and worked in the Netherlands for seven years at a Michelin-star restaurant where he gained an exceptional amount of experience. Returning to South Africa, he worked at several top restaurants, including Rust en Vrede,Overture and The Round House.

Now happily settled in Hermanus with his wife Nicole and their three young children, Anton’s passion is tasting and cooking with local ingredients and creating interesting and delicious meals.
