Dylan Tabisher

Marimba

Dylan started percussion in 2002 with Suzette Brits at the Hugo Lambrechts Music Centre. He has completed BMus, BMus (Hons) and MMus with Cum Laude at Stellenbosch University.

Dylan has established himself as soloist and ensemble member both nationally and internationally. He has performed as soloist with the Cape Philharmonic Orchestra, KwaZulu-Natal Philharmonic Orchestra and the University of Stellenbosch Symphony Orchestra.

He has also participated in numerous national and international competitions. Most notably he was the overall winner of the FMR Music Competition, ATKV-Muziq Competition and SAMRO Overseas Scholarship Competition. Additionally, he was selected as a semi-finalist in the World Marimba Competition held in Germany and Universal Marimba Competition in Belgium.

As a member of the No Borders Orchestra (Balkans), Dylan has travelled extensively through Europe, Asia, North and South America as well as Australasia, performing Brett Bailey’s adaptation of Verdi’s Macbeth. Most recently, Dylan travelled to Tokyo, Japan to have master classes with the legendary marimba artist Keiko Abe.
