History continues to capture the imagination of James, a retired Presbyterian minister who has lived in Hermanus for almost 25 years. During this time he’s been telling stories, including those he has shared with numerous, appreciative FynArts audiences.
A product of Rondebosch Boys’ High and Rhodes and Natal Universities, where he studied history and theology, he went on to pursue his doctoral studies at the University of St Andrews in Scotland. James also spent time in Zimbabwe before moving to Hermanus with his family in 2000.
He is happily married to Mariette who, he says, is – borrowing words of General Smuts about the important role of his dear wife Isie – “the steam in my kettle”.
