Joanne has been an award-winning wine writer for over two decades, most recently scooping the Jancis Robinson Wine Writing Award 2023. Formerly a feature writer at Harpers Wine & Spirit (UK) and deputy editor of WINE (SA), she went freelance in 2009, becoming the Sunday Times wine columnist and a taster for Platter’s South African Wine Guide while also contributing to many local and international publications.

In recent years, her focus has shifted to researching South African wine history and writing books, including Klein Constantia: The Home of Vin de Constance and Vergenoegd Löw: Reds, Racehorses and Runner Ducks.
