Pieter Joubert hails from Bloemfontein, where he started studying the violin at age six under Francois Henkins. He regularly played with the Free State Symphony Orchestra as a cadet player and was chosen as a soloist in the 2017 Youth Concerto Festival. He led the Free State Youth Orchestra as concert master in 2019 and often performed as a soloist.
In 2020 he won the prestigious Human-Naudé Bursary Competition. He was a semi-finalist in the 2019 and 2021 National Youth Music Competitions and won the Strings Category Runner-up Prize in 2021.
Pieter has been an avid participant in the Stellenbosch International Chamber Music Festival, Gauteng Chamber Music Festival, and the Franschhoek Chamber Music Festival, and has received masterclasses from Daniel Auer (Austria) and Andrej Bielow (Ukraine). Since 2021 he has continued his studies full-time under Prof Farida Bacharova at the University of Cape Town.
