Wynand Davel

Violinist

Wynand is a freelance violinist specialising in rock, country, jazz, folk, and contemporary styles. After studying alongside Guido de Groote, Alan Soloman, and Jack de Wet, Wynand departed for Ireland where he joined forces with French manouche band Los Gadjos and toured Ireland and France, culminating with a tour on home soil, South Africa.

Wynand has performed and recorded with the likes of Arno Carstens, Nataniel, Radio Kalahari Orkes, Carlo Mombelli, and many more South African and international acts and DJ’s. Wynand co-founded the band Awesome Foursome, together with Heinrich Pelser, Friso Woutstra and Rynier Prince, creating an eclectic quartet with styles varying from tango and jazz to classical and folk. In 2015 Wynand toured Holland with Radio Kalahari Orkes to sold-out performances in Amsterdam and Den Haag which brought the band and performers new-found acclaim.
