Reconnecting with his South African roots, UK-based violinist Emmanuel Bach, accompanied by Jenny Stern on piano, offers three highly expressive yet very different works in this recital.
With Beethoven’s Tenth Sonata taking the audience to the gateway to Romanticism, you’ll be transported into a world of sincerity, tenderness and, finally, joy. It is a work of great thoughtfulness, but also optimism, marking a pinnacle within his chamber music.
This is followed by Bloch’s extraordinary Second Sonata, Poème mystique, an intense work inspired by a dream. The recital concludes with a celebrated showpiece by Saint-Saëns – his virtuosic Introduction and Rondo Capriccioso.
