The Mzansi Tenors are an exciting new development on the South African music scene. These ten young singers (including local singing sensation Luvo Maranti) all music students at the University of Cape Town. The Tenors will perform a rousing concert at the Dutch Reformed Church in Hermanus on Sunday 2 October at 15:00.

After spending many years in Europe as an opera singer, Sipho Fubesi returned to lecture in music at UCT and was blown away by the talent of his students. He worked with the tenors to create an opportunity for them to perform regularly, not only to share the their musical talent but also to create opportunities to earn an income and to pay for their studies. Sipho believes this opportunity will not only change the lives of the tenors, many from disadvantaged backgrounds, but will give hope to South Africans to follow their dreams and will learn that with commitment, passion and hard work, anything is possible.

Rand Merchant Bank and Richard Cock have joined forces with the Mzansi Tenors and they have since appeared together at several high profile events including at weddings and corporate events.

The programme will include famous opera arias and choruses by Puccini, Verdi and Donizetti; popular songs by Frank Sinatra, the Beatles and Leonard Cohen; special arrangements of South African favourites, and a song specially composed for and with them about young men doing good.
The Tenors will be accompanied by pianist, Sally Riedel.
