Firing a pot or other artwork is the point of no return. What happens in the kiln is irreversible and, to a large
extent, unpredictable. Until it enters the kiln, clay can be reclaimed, broken up, soaked, and reformed into raw material, but in the kiln clay becomes ceramic.
In the following pages you will view some of the unique ceramic artworks created by twelve highly skilled contemporary artists. Each has their own artistic approach and specific language to address their audience in the way they want their work to speak and to communicate their own distinctive meaning.
