Oelof Vorster

Chef

Oelof is the head chef at The Marine Hotel in Hermanus. Armed with a diploma in culinary arts and professional cooking, he joined The Marine after nine years of experience as a chef. The previous three years were spent at Leeu Estate’s Le Chêne Restaurant, after stints at Pieneef à La Motte, Le Petite Colombe and Jordan Restaurant. He also notched up invaluable international experience at Stora Hotellet Bryggan in Sweden.

Oelof’s dedication to the craft, alongside a passion for the upskilling and development of his team, sees him taking the reins to lead the culinary experience at The Marine to even greater heights. The basic techniques that are used in his kitchen are classic French, to which he adds a modern touch. His style of cooking is a culmination of all the valuable lessons he’s learnt from the chefs he’s had the privilege of working with over the years.
